ARRESTS
A 26 year-old female was arrested on 2/18/2024 on 2 out of county warrants. She is still in custody
A 37 year-old female was arrested on 2/24/2024 on an out of county warrant. She was issued a PR bond.
CALL SUMMARIES
2/18/2024 @ 2:09 am. An assault occured just outside the Rangely town limits which led to one person going to the hospital. The suspect was known, however no charges were filed at the time.
2/18/2024 @ 11:26 am. A female party was arrested after her dog defecated in an apartment complex and refused to pick it up. Per the reporting party the female threatened to shoot him. She wasn’t arrested for the incident, although she did have a warrant and was taken to jail.
2/18/2024 @ 3:30 pm. The Meeker High School wrestling team champions were escorted back into town by emergency services.
2/19/2024 @ 12:42 pm. Somone brought a dog they “found” to the pound in Meeker. As it turns out, it was the person’s dog and they were just trying to relinquish the dog. Ultimately the dog was released back to it’s owner and explained the proper way and fees to relinquish a dog.
2/22/2024 @ 9:40 pm. A male party was seen walking in the middle of Highway 64 near the 4 mile-marker. A deputy located the subject and gave him a courtesy ride to a hotel in Rangely due to weather conditions.
2/24/2024 @ 8:33 pm. A traffic stop turned into an arrest when the passenger was found to have a warrant.
2/25/2024 @ 3:50 pm. Rio Blanco County Communications Center received an “inReach” SOS activation from a Garmin GPS. The activation was near the Sand Peak area approximately 45 miles Northeast of Meeker and accessible by snowmobile only. Futher communication revealed that a 38 year-old male (from Highlands Ranch, CO) was found underneath his snowmobile that had overturned and the male was unresponsive. Meeker Volunteer Fire Dept., Rio Blanco County Search and Rescue, Classic Air Medical and Deputies from Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area. Despite life saving measures from the parties on scene, and the medical crew from Classic Air Medical the male party was pronounced deceased on scene. Further investigation as to how the snowmobile overturned trapping the male underneath is ongoing.
