ARRESTS
There was one arrest this week. A male party was arrested on 2/24/2023 for domestic violence and is currently in custody at the Moffat County Jail.
Call summaries
2/20/2023 @ 9:41 am. Barone Middle School reported a gun in a locker to Rio Blanco County Communications Center. Upon further investigation by law enforcement, the gun was an air soft gun. The owner of the weapon was located and was spoken to about the severity of the incident. No charges were pressed.
2/20/2023 @ 8:46 pm. A suspicious vehicle was contacted by a deputy on the west side of Rio Blanco County. Upon contact the deputy learned that the occupants were on a “date” The deputy cleared with no further action
2/21/2023 @ 8:38 am. A stolen bike was recovered near a hotel in the town limits of Meeker. The owner was notified and was able to take back possession of the bike.
2/22/2023 @ 7:29 am. A truck was reported to have run the stop sign on a school bus on Highway 13. A deputy looked for the vehicle up to the Rio Blanco County/Garfield County line and was unable to locate the vehicle.
2/22/2023 @ 4:20 pm. Deputies checked on a report of someone that might be camping in a vehicle near the 10th Street bridge. Upon further investigation, the occupant of the vehicle was doing some maintenance on the vehicle.
2/23/2023 @ 6:27 am. Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Office assisted Rangely PD with a report of a male party with a handgun inside a residence pointing the gun at another occupant in the residence. The subject and weapon were secured without incident.
2/23/2023 @ 7:45 pm. A horse was hit near the 42 mile-marker on Highway 64. The driver was not injured and the horse ran off. An accident report was taken.
2/24/2023 10:11 am. A domestic violence was reported in eastern Rio Blanco County. A male party was subsequently arrested and taken to Moffat County jail. No injuries were reported.
