RIO HAPPENINGS:  FEB. 9-15, 2025

ARRESTS

2/12/2025- Colorado State Patrol arrested a 25 year-old male for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, Drugs or Both, Careless Driving, Failed to Present Evidence of Insurance Upon Request and Solid Rubber Tire Failed to be at Least One Inch Thick. He was taken to jail and released on a PR bond a few hours after the arrest.

2/15/2025- A 38 year-old male was arrested by Meeker PD on a warrant for Theft and Trespass. He was transported to jail and released on 2/17/2025 on a PR bond.

2/16/2025- A 46 year-old male was arrested by Rangely PD for Driving a Vehicle when License/Privilege to Drive is Restrained for Express Consent or Alcohol/Drug-Related Offense and Operating an Uninsured Motor Vehicle on a Public Roadway. He was taken to jail and released on bond 2/17/2025. 

CALL SUMMARIES

2/9/2025 @ 9:14 pm. A routine traffic stop ended in a DUI arrest at Market/School St. in Meeker. The driver was issued a summons for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol and/or Drugs, Possession of a Firearm while Under the Influence, Child Abuse and Operating a Vehicle with Defective Headlamps.

2/11/2025 @ 11:54 am. Meeker Volunteer Fire Dept. responded to a call regarding a wildland fire on County Road 6. Upon arrival of the Sheriff’s Office and the Fire Dept. it was deemed a controlled burn.

2/12/2025 @ 12:03 am. A vehicle slide-off was reported to the Communications Center near the 73 mile-marker on Highway 64. Upon the deputies arrival it was determined that alcohol was a factor. The driver was taken to the hospital and subsequently taken into custody by Colorado State Patrol and taken to jail. Colorado State Patrol is investigating the incident.

2/14/2025 @ 9:14 am. An employer called for a welfare check on an employee that had not shown up for work in Rangely. The employee was located by a family member, sleeping on his couch in Grand Junction where he resides.

2/14/2025 @ 11:12 pm. A semi became stuck trying to get up Steadman Mesa near the 38 mile-marker on Highway 64. The highway had to be completely shut down as a result of the semi being jack-knifed and blocking the highway.
