CALL SUMMARIES

01/07/2024 @ 09:05 pm. A driver on Hwy 64  called in stating he had lost a concrete mixer trailer that was hooked on to his truck. A deputy later found it in the ditch with severe damage. The driver advised he would recover it in the morning.

01/09/2024 @ 07:45 pm. The Meeker Fire Department responded to a chicken coop on fire. The fire was contained and no other structures were affected.

01/10/2024 @ 11:40 pm. A suspicious couple was reported walking near Samuelson’s. When contacted, they indicated they were getting gas for their RV. Early the next morning, CDOT reported the same male and female lying in the snow, covered with a tarp near Hwy 13 and CR 15. The snowplow drivers were concerned they might get run over since they were not visible until the plows turned into the area. When an officer tried to make contact, they were nowhere to be found. They were later reported seen on Nine Mile with their RV but have since moved on.

01/12/2024 @ 08:12 am. A complaint came in to dispatch of a neighbor who had been whistling and using a spotlight to get the Reporting Party’s dogs to come their way. Days earlier, the dogs had been reported chasing neighbors’ horses and were told by a deputy that if not contained to their own property, they could be dispatched by the owners of the horses or legally euthanized.

1/12/2024 @ 10:45 am. Rio Blanco County Search and Rescue and Rescue Dogs of the US recovered the body of a missing young man off Hwy 13 and mm 30. More of the story can be read on RBC Sheriff’s Facebook page.

1/13/2024 @ 01:38 pm. A driver of a car reported two big white dogs, one with blood on his forehead, who were chasing and attacking her car. When a deputy located the dogs on Hwy 139, they ran into the roadway barking at his vehicle. He did his best to chase them off with lights and sirens but the two dogs were eating roadkill beside the road.  They just weren’t willing the share their food with anyone.
