ARRESTS
On 7/6/2023 a male party was transported from Cheyenne to Moffat County Jail on 2 Rio Blanco County Warrants by Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Office. Rangely PD arrested a male party on a Mesa County Felony Warrant and transported him to Moffat County. Both subjects are still being held at Moffat County Jail.
CALL SUMMARIES
7/2/2023 @ 2:51 am. Someone wanted to report their vehicle stolen from the area of County Road 11. A deputy found the vehicle parked on County Road 11. No crime.
7/2/2023 @ 4:11 pm. A wildfire was reported in the area of County Road 24 and County Road 91. The fire was approximately an acre in size and was contained/controlled at 7:57 pm by Meeker Volunteer Fire Dept.
7/3/2023 @ 6:22 pm. Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Office assisted Rangely PD with an assault call.
7/3/2023 @ 6:55 pm. A crash occured at the intersection of 3rd and Cedar in the town limits of Meeker when a pickup truck hit a residential mailbox. The driver was cited for DUI, use of toxic vapors and careless driving.
7/4/2023 @ 4:34 pm. Several parties were reported overdue when they hadn’t shown up at Circle Park after tubing on the White River. Meeker PD, Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Office and Meeker Volunteer Fire Dept. responded to assist with locating the parties. Everyone was found safe. One person was treated on scene for hypothermia.
7/5/2023 @ 7:36 pm. A lightning strike caused a fire near the 36 mile-marker on Highway 13. Due to the rain in the area, the fire dissipated to smoke and was eventually put out. Meeker Volunteer Fire Dept. checked the area the next day and there was nothing showing.
7/6/2023 @ 3:50 pm. A report of smoke came into Rio Blanco County Communications Center at the intersection of County Road 77 and BLM Rd. 1509. Upon arrival it was determined that one tree was on fire. BLM Fire took over the incident and released Meeker Volunteer Fire Dept.
7/7/2023 @ 2:10 am. A car vs deer accident caused a driver to have injuries at the County Road 46 and County Road 23 a intersection. There was also a phone pole that was struck during the accident. Rangely EMS and Rio Blanco County Sheriff responded. Colorado State Patrol handled the accident investigation.
7/8/2023 @ 9:06 am. A vehicle was reported to be partially in Rio Blanco Lake. The vehicle was unoccupied. The water was almost up to the front door but not submerged. The owner of the vehicle was contacted and he did not know how his vehicle got in this predicament as he had been partying and didn’t recall going to the lake. The vehicle owner was issued a citation by Colorado Parks and Wildlife.
7/8/2023 @ 1:17 pm. A baler and tractor caught fire on County Road 5. The fire was contained mostly to the tractor. Meeker Volunteer Fire Dept. responded and put the fire out at 2:29 pm. No injuries were reported.
