7/20/2025 @ 5:18 pm. When Round-Up just isn’t cutting it… A neighbor called the police because someone was out blowtorching weeds.
7/20/2025 @ 5:36 pm. One vehicle crash at the 4 mile-marker on County Road 8. The single occupant sustained injuries and was transported to the hospital. Colorado State Patrol is investigating the accident.
7/20/2025 @ 9:43 pm. A woman at a local event accused a “suspicious character” of stealing her wallet. Turns out the real thief was her own truck. The wallet was found living its best life under the seat the whole time.
7/20/2025 @ 9:57 pm. A domestic violence call came into the Communications Center. Once officers arrived on scene, the suspect had already left the residence. There is an outstanding warrant for the male suspect. No injuries were reported.
7/21/2025 @ 1:40 pm. Meeker Volunteer Fire Dept. contained a small brush fire at the 32 mile-marker on Highway 13. No structures were threatened. The cause of the fire is unknown.
7/21/2025 @ 6:30 pm. The Sheriff’s Office assisted Rangely PD controlling with a good old-fashioned brawl inside the town limits. Apparently, someone missed the memo that the first rule of Fight Club is don’t start one in public. Law enforcement brought things under control. One male party was taken into custody by Rangely PD—fight night ended early, and there were no trophies handed out. Moral of the story: If your evening plans involve fists, maybe reconsider. Rangely PD is undefeated.
7/23/2025 @ 4:21 pm. An InReach message sent to a friend prompted an emergency response for a male party who sustained a broken leg in a horse accident near County Road 121. He splinted his lower leg with items in the area, jumped back on his horse and rode it back to his side by side, tied his horse to the side by side, and continued the trek to meet the ambulance near a residence on a County Road. Classic Air Medical was dispatched to the scene, however he refused to be flown out and was transported to the hospital by ambulance. This cowboy gets the “Tough Guy Award!”
7/25/2025 @ 7:08 pm. A single vehicle accident occurred at the 11 mile- marker on County Road 7. There were two occupants in the truck. The driver sustained significant injuries, the passenger sustained minor injuries, and both were transported to the hospital.
7/26/2025 @ 2:41 pm. A single vehicle accident occurred at the 27 mile- marker on Highway 64. The single occupant was entrapped in the vehicle, as the SUV was on its side. The driver was extricated by Rangely Fire Dept and transported to the hospital.
7/26/2025 @ 9:13 pm. A small sports car hit an elk at the 54 mile-marker on Highway 13. Both occupants sustained injuries and were transported to the hospital. The juvenile passenger was ultimately airlifted to another facility.
7/26/2025 @ 11:24 pm. A man was spotted spinning in circles in a parking lot like a confused Roomba…turns out, he wasn’t lost — just his dog.
