ARRESTS

A 28 year-old male was arrested on 8/4/2024 by Rangely PD and taken to jail for Domestic Violence and False Imprisonment. He remains in custody.

CALL SUMMARIES

7/28/2024 @ 11:52 am. A Meeker resident got a surprise when he started his car and found a cat in the engine. He also got bit while attempting to remove the cat.

7/29/2024 @ 12:51 pm. A suspicious vehicle was called in at 6th /Water St. Upon the officer’s arrival, the driver of the vehicle was just on their lunch break and reading a book.

7/30/2024 @ 3:22 pm. A willow tree fell on a power line in the area of 6th/Water St. and caused the power line to spark and smoke. Meeker Volunteer Fire Dept. responded along with White River Electric Association and contained the issue rapidly.

7/31/2024 @ 8:51 pm. A suspicious incident occurred in the area of 5th/Water St. A male party was observed trying to get into a house and appeared intoxicated. Officers cleared the house with the assistance of a K-9. Nobody was in the residence. The suspect was not located.

8/2/2024 @ 2:19 pm. Several traffic complaints regarding a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed and passing on a double yellow came into the Communications Center. While on Highway 13, the driver got behind two deputies and decided to pass on a double yellow yet again. He was issued a citation for passing on a double yellow line.

8/2/2024 @ 4:30 pm. An ATV came off a trailer while traveling from Meeker to Rangely. A deputy located the runaway ATV on Highway 64 near the 40-mile marker. The owner was notified and retrieved the vehicle. After giving the driver safety tips on securing a load, the deputy followed the driver back to Rangely to ensure no further incidents occurred. (It was the Deputy’s dad!)

8/2/2025 @ 8:14 pm. A parasailing accident occurred on County Road 27. The patient was flown to a hospital by helicopter.

There were a total of 4 wildland fires reported this week. All but one of them were on BLM property.
