ARRESTS
On August 2, 2023 Meeker PD arrested a male party that walked into the Sheriff’s Office with a warrant. The male was transported to Moffat County Jail. He bonded out on August 3, 2023.
CALL SUMMARIES
7/30/2023 @ 1:52 pm. A non injury accident occured at the 41 mile-marker Highway 13. The driver was issued a summons for driving with a suspended drivers license.
7/30/2023 @ 10:21 pm. A traffic hazard was reported to the Communications Center regarding a Uhaul trailer that was possibly dragging a chain on Highway 64. A deputy located the vehicle pulling the trailer and the driver was given a warning and corrected the issue.
7/31/2023 @ 3:33 am. A traffic complaint was reported in the early hours of the morning regarding a vehicle that almost hit construction equipment and was swerving near the 16 mile-marker on Highway 13. A deputy responded to Highway 13 to look out for the vehicle and stopped the vehicle at the 38 mile-marker on Highway 13. The driver was issued a summons and the vehicle was left on scene as it had no insurance.
8/1/2023 @ 4:37 am. A rock slide was reported at the 10 mile-marker on County Road 5. The reporting party advised that the west bound lane was completely blocked and several of the rocks were extremely large. Road and Bridge was notified and they responded to handle the situation .
8/1/2023 @ 3:05 pm. A lightning strike caused a single tree fire on County Road 77. Meeker Volunteer Fire Dept. responded. The fire was controlled and contained at 5:10 pm.
8/2/2023 @ 6:08 am. A wildland fire was reported approximately 2 1/2 miles up Sulphur Creek Rd. Meeker Volunteer Fire Dept. responded and hiked into the location of the fire. The fire was controlled and contained at 7:48 am.
8/2/2023 @ 8:13 am. A non injury accident happened in Sage Hills. One of the drivers was issued a summons for driving with a revoked drivers license.
8/5/2023 @ 12:08 am. A hit and run accident occured at 6th & Park St. in the Town limits of Meeker. After a short time the suspect vehicle was located and led officers on a vehicle pursuit through town. Ultimately the suspect crashed and fled from the vehicle on foot. Although the suspect was not located, they have been identified.
8/1/2023 National Night Out had a great turnout. Thanks for the Lions Club who cooked the meal. Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Office, Meeker Police Dept. Colorado State Patrol and Meeker Volunteer Fire Dept. appreciate the support of the citizens and the wonderful community we serve and keep safe.
