RIO HAPPENINGS: June 2-8, 2024

ARRESTS

A 50 year-old male was transported from Mesa County on 6/3/2024 on a Rio Blanco warrant.

A 33 year-old female was arrested on 6/5/2024 for DUI, Child abuse, Resisting Arrest and Assault on a Peace Officer.

A 62 year-old female was arrested on 6/6/2024 for Violation of a Protection Order. She was granted a PR bond on 6/7/2024.

A 36 year-old female was transported from Phoenix, AZ on 6/5/2024 on a felony Rio Blanco warrant.

A 37 year-old male was arrested on 6/10/2024 for DUI. He bonded out on 6/11/2024

CALL SUMMARIES

6/3/2024 @ 3:05 pm. The Sheriff contacted a vehicle that was pulled over to the side of the road at the 40 mile-marker on Highway 13. The occupants had seen a bear run across the highway and they were just trying to locate it.

6/3/2024 @ 5:12 pm. A driver pulled over at the 17.5 mile marker on Highway 13 and called 911 to state “he was dying and to come find him.” The caller sounded incoherent and ultimately needed medical attention as he was intoxicated. The male was not actively in control of the vehicle when officers arrived so he could not be charged with DUI.

6/4/2024 @ 7:02 pm. Some juveniles got into a scuffle on Garfield St and one juvenile ended up getting bit by a dog at the same time. No medical attention was needed.

6/5/2024 @ 2:48 pm. A horse decided to try its luck in the river near the town limits of Rangely. A rafter was able to help get the horse out of the water. The owner was notified and responded.

6/5/2024 @ 7:58 pm. A DUI in town limits was reported to the Communications Center. An officer located the vehicle and was able to stop it at Elk Mountain Inn. The driver was arrested for DUI, child abuse, careless driving, 2nd degree assault (as she spit in the officer’s face while in custody), drove a vehicle when license revoked, and violation of a protection order. She was transported to jail.

6/6/2024 @ 11:54 am. A female party was arrested by Meeker PD when she was reported for drinking, which was a violation of her protection order. She was transported to jail.

6/8/2024 @ 12:05 pm. A 4 wheeler crash activated a crash detection notification on County Road 46. Rangely EMS was dispatched however, the driver of the ATV was okay and did not need an ambulance.
