Rio Happenings: June 25-July 1

ARRESTS

On 6/26/2023 a 40 year-old male was arrested on a Meeker PD warrant. The subject was transported to Moffat County jail and released on a PR bond by Magistrate McConaughy.

CALL SUMMARIES

6/26/2023 @ 2:36 pm. A male party was arrested by Meeker PD for failing to register as a sex offender and transported to Moffat County Jail.

6/26/2023 @ 2:40 pm. A lone traveler walking from California to North Carolina was called in to the Rio Blanco County Communications Center. The male party was pushing a shopping cart and was reported to be in and out of traffic. A deputy with the Sheriff’s Office stopped to check on the traveler. He was okay and was educated to stay out of the roadway.

6/27/2023 @ 7:15 am. An alpaca decided to take a rest at the rest stop on Highway 13 after escaping its home. A deputy responded to attempt to find the alpaca’s owners. Nobody was located but a nearby property owner offered to put the alpaca in their field until the animal could be returned home.

6/27/2023 @ 7:19 am. Meeker PD and Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Office assisted Garfield County Sheriff’s Office with an incident that occurred in the construction zone on Highway 13 near the 13 mile-marker. 4 male subjects got out of a vehicle in the construction zone and threatened another driver and a verbal threat regarding a gun. Meeker PD stopped the vehicle in the town limits. No weapons were found and Garfield County responded to where law enforcement had the vehicle stopped and issued a citation.

6/28/2023 @ 7:39 am. Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Office responded and assisted Rangely EMS and Colorado State Patrol at the 60 mile-marker on Highway 139 for an SUV that rolled after hitting another vehicle. The single occupant of the SUV had minor injuries but refused medical treatment. The driver of the other vehicle was not injured.

6/29/2023 @ 9:23 am. Meeker PD was called about a harassment involving 2 males that were harassing each other. After further investigation it appeared no crime had been committed and the officer advised the involved parties that they need to leave each other alone and try and be better examples for their children.

6/30/2023 @ 7:06 pm. A SOS activation came into the Rio Blanco County Communications Center regarding a motor vehicle crash that occurred on County Road 17. The driver was not injured. Colorado State Patrol took over the investigation.

6/30/2023 @ 7:12 pm. Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Office assisted Rangely PD as a cover unit on a domestic violence call in the town limits of Rangely.

6/30/2023 @ 8:16 pm. A fight ensued amongst 2 male parties in the town limits of Meeker. A firearm and narcotics were discovered on one of the suspects. A

summons was issued.

7/1/2023 @ 10:12 pm. A deputy on routine patrol came across a vehicle that was unoccupied with garbage around it. The vehicle was parked in the area of the 3 mile-marker on County Road 8. Upon further investigation there was nobody in the vehicle or in the area and the deputy cleared the scene.
