ARRESTS
3/4/2026-Rangely PD arrested a 42 year-old male for 3rd Degree Assault, Violation of a Protection Order, Domestic Violence and False Imprisonment. He was released on a PR bond.
3/9/2026-Rangely PD arrested a 55 year-old female on a warrant for Dangerous Drugs. She remains in custody.
CALL SUMMARIES
3/4/2026 @ 3:25 pm. A controlled burn became out of hand on Highway 64. No structures were threatened, yet Meeker Volunteer Fire Department still came out and contended with some of the hot spots to get it back in control.
3/4/2026 @ 5:54 pm. Bubbles the pig took a walkabout on 3rd St.today. While Bubbles was on his leisurely stroll, a wild pig chase commenced. Meeker PD attempted to locate Bubbles and was eventually caught and returned to its owners.
3/6/2026 @ 12:34 am. Communications received a call about someone vandalizing an air conditioning unit at a residence. Meeker PD checked on the unit seeing no signs of disturbance. When the reporter called again stating he could see the wiring being moved, Meeker PD was still on scene and could not see anyone messing with the air conditioner.
3/6/2026 @ 10:50 am. A one vehicle roll over occurred at the 49 mile-marker on Highway 13. The driver was trapped in the vehicle for a short time. The driver refused any medical treatment.
On Thursday March 5, 2026 Lieutenant Muxlow and Sergeant Huitt represented Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Office at the Colorado Parks and Wildlife Commission meeting in Denver. They spoke on behalf of the potential ban on the commercial sale of furbearer wildlife as well as the fees for SB25-003.
Sheriff Mazzola was awarded a lifetime membership to the Western States Sheriff’s Association on Wednesday, March 4, while attending the association’s conference.
