5/27/2026 @ 2:54 pm. A citizen brought in a dog that appeared to have been abandoned without food or water near the 3-4 mile marker on Highway 64. The dog was transported to the Rangely Animal Shelter. After posting on social media, the dog’s owner was excited to see their dog. Their dog was lost while they were hunting for shed antlers. It is still unknown who tied the dog to the fence post. We are happy the dog was reunited with his owner.

Deputies located skid marks and evidence the guardrail  had indeed been introduced to a vehicle at some point. Despite checking the water, no vehicle was found.

The offcer conducted a traffic stop and issued a citation for 40 mph over the speed limit and Reckless Driving.
