CALL SUMMARIES
11/4/2024 @ 8:04 a.m. A vehicle became stuck near the dead end of County Road 38. The occupants of the vehicle were trying to locate the solar farm on Highway 13 in Moffat County, however, their GPS took them to the wrong location. Upon the deputies arrival, the occupants were walking uphill as they thought maybe the solar farm would be in the direction of fresh tire tracks. The deputy got them reoriented and gave them a ride into town to coordinate a tow truck.
11/5/2024 @ 1:52 pm. The unexpected snow storm wreaked havoc throughout the county. Nine Mile Pass was even closed for a short time. With the teamwork of Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Office, Rio Blanco County and CDOT the highway was re-opened. Throughout the afternoon and evening, there were several slide-offs and non-injury accidents.
11/5/2024 @ 4:07 pm. During the snow event, a call for a backcountry rescue in the Oak Creek area came into the Communications Center regarding a hunter that had a broken leg. The people with the patient were able to get the injured party down to meet the ambulance and he was transported to the hospital.
11/6/2024 @ 6:17 am. Another person looking for the solar field in Moffat County got stuck on County Road 38. A passerby was able to get the vehicle out.
11/8/2024 @ 9:55 am. A malfunction with a compressor at Watts Ranch Market prompted the evacuation of the business. As a result Meeker Volunteer Fire Dept. Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Office and Meeker PD responded. The ambulance transported two patients.
11/9/2024 @ 2:00 pm. A male party was called into the Communications Center when he trespassed into the Sheriff’s Office impound lot to gain access to his impounded vehicle. Meeker PD assisted and issued the subject a summons for 2nd Degree Criminal Trespass.
Due to several delivery trucks and passenger vehicles getting stuck or trying to turnaround on County Road 13, a message board was placed on 10th St. advising people driving to the solar farm that the solar farm is not on CR 13 but on Hwy. 13. We are hoping this helps the people trying to get to the new solar farm just past Colowyo.
