CALL SUMMARIES
11/9/2022 @ 4:19 pm. A road grader was reported to be on fire on County Road 26. Meeker Volunteer Fire Dept. responded and put what was left of the fire out. No injuries were reported.
11/9/2022 @ 11:23 pm. A semi hauling cement drove off the road near the 44 mile-marker Highway 139. Both the driver and passenger reported injuries. Rangely Fire Dept. and EMS were dispatched to the scene. The occupants refused medical transport.
11/10/2022 @ 7:07 pm. Several trucks got stuck in the mud at the 20 mile-marker on Highway 13 because they pulled off the road to put chains on.
11/11/2022 @ 8:24 am. Rio Blanco County Communications Center received a traffic complaint on Highway 13. An officer was dispatched but had trouble catching up to the vehicle due to a traffic jam involving sheep.
11/12/2022 @ 6:22 pm. A motorist called in a traffic hazard near the 55 mile-marker Highway 64. The report was of a “massive deer laying horizontally in the road” Upon the deputy’s arrival he decided the deer was average at best and was indeed horizontal in the east bound lane. The deer was removed from the highway.
11/12/2022 @ 9:51 pm. A hunter called in to report they had accidentally shot 2 spike bulls in the Oak Ridge area. Colorado Parks and Wildlife were notified.
11/13/2022 @ A female party called 911 wanting to pay her spouse for the electric bill. The caller was given the non-emergency phone number for dispatch.
The animals are on the move this time of year. This week Rio Blanco County Communications received 10 calls regarding car vs. deer accidents and 1 call involving a car vs. elk.
