ARRESTS
9/3/2024 – 33-year-old male was arrested by Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Office for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol or Drugs, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possessed an Open Marijuana Container in vehicle. He was released 9-4-2024 on a PR bond
9/6/2024 – 23-year-old male turned himself in to serve a 90 day sentence.
CALL SUMMARIES
9/1/2024 @ 11:38 am. Meeker Volunteer Fire Dept. responded to a haystack fire on County Road 13. No structures were affected.
9/2/2024 @ 12:37 am. While on routine patrol, a Meeker Police Officer thought he heard odd noises coming from the Fairgrounds but dismissed them due to the wind. After listening further, a faint laugh was heard. This started a chase around town as three juveniles took off, running at the sight of his patrol vehicle. After some time one of the juvenile males stopped for the officer. The other two juveniles have been identified as well. Upon further investigation, there was damage to the Fairgrounds bathroom. One of the juveniles was issued a summons for Criminal Mischief and Littering of Public Property.
9/3/2024 @ 8:02 pm. A suspicious vehicle/incident was called into the Communications Center regarding a possible disturbance on County Rd 7. Upon the deputy’s arrival, it was determined that both parties had been drinking and were out looking for their dogs. The male driver was transported to jail and the female was taken to the hospital. The dogs were taken to the animal shelter.
9/4/2024 @ 10:49 am. A male party had to be flown out by helicopter after a tree landed on him while doing mitigation.
9/4/2024 @ 4:47 pm. Another helicopter was called for a juvenile male who suffered injuries from being pinned between a truck and side by side.
9/4/2024 @ 9:33 pm. A mudslide was reported on County Road 5 at the 25-mile marker. Upon the deputies’ arrival, 3-4 mudslides covered both lanes of the road. Road and Bridge was notified and responded.
9/5/2024 A deputy helped out a couple that had become lost searching for “interpretative sites” on County Rd. 23
9/7/2024 @ 11:40 am. A deputy assisted Rangely PD with a domestic violence call in the town limits of Rangely.
9/7/2024 @ 10:06 pm. After a break-up a male party left a residence on Highway 64 with a gun threatening suicide. A deputy located the subject shortly after the call and was able to take him into protective custody without incident. The male was transported to the hospital.
