RIO HAPPENINGS: SEPT 15-21, 2024

ARRESTS

9/15/2024- A 54 year-old male was arrested by Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Office for Driving a Vehicle While Under the Influence of Alcohol or Drugs, Possessing an Open Container in a Motor Vehicle, Drove Vehicle Without a Valid Drivers License, Resisting Arrest x 2 and Escape.

9/17/2024 – A 35 year-old male was arrested by Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Office on a warrant and taken to jail.

9/22/2024- A 34 year-old male was arrested by Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Office on a warrant and taken to jail.

There were several DUI arrests this week. 4 out of the 5 DUI’s were issued a summons and released to a sober party.

CALL SUMMARIES

9/15/2024 @ 8:04 pm. Two separate gas stations in Meeker called the Communications Center to report an intoxicated driver. A deputy located the vehicle at the 30 mile-marker on Highway 13. The single male occupant jumped over to the passenger side then preceded to get out and lay on the bed of his flatbed truck. He was taken into custody without incident. The male party then became uncooperative on two separate occasions while in custody. He received several charges and was taken to jail.

9/16/2024 @ 6:29 am. A car vs deer accident occurred at the 18 mile marker on Highway 13. The driver was injured and transported to the hospital.

9/16/2024 @ 3:59 pm. A search and rescue was initiated for a female party that was thought to be lost in the area of Forest Service Rd 240. Before the Search and Rescue team could coordinate a response, the female party was located safe and sound at the bottom of the mountain.

9/18/2024 @ 1:44 pm. A one vehicle rollover accident occurred at the 61 mile-marker on Highway 64. The driver was transported to the hospital and ultimately given a summons for Careless Driving and Driving a Vehicle While Under the Influence of Alcohol or Drugs. She was released to hospital staff.

9/20/2024 @ 11:10 am. Several traffic complaints on a vehicle traveling northbound on Highway 13 turned into a DUI arrest. The deputy located the vehicle at the rest area on Highway 13 and the driver was taken into custody for DUI. He was issued a summons for Careless Driving, Driving a Vehicle While Under the Influence of Alcohol or Drugs and Driving a Vehicle with Blood Alcohol Content of 0.08 or more. He was released to a sober party.

9/20/2024 @ 4:52 pm A deputy performing a routine traffic stop at the 24 mile-marker on Highway 13 took the driver into custody and issued a summons for Driving a Vehicle While Under the Influence of Alcohol or Drugs or Both, Possessing an Open Marijuana Container in a Motor Vehicle, Speeding 10-19 over the speed limit. He was released to a sober party.

9/20/2024 @ 6:46 pm. A hunter called 911 hoping the dispatcher would have “special powers” in notifying his partner that he needed help getting an elk down that he shot. Dispatchers are very special people and out of the kindness of her heart, the dispatcher did attempt to contact his hunting buddy.

9/20/2024 @ 9:52 pm. On a routine traffic stop, Meeker Police Dept. arrested a female party for DUI. She was issued a summons for Driving Vehicle While Under the Influence of Alcohol or Drugs, Operated an Uninsured Motor Vehicle on a Public Roadway, Operated Vehicle with Defective/Missing Headlamps, Possessed an Open Marijuana Container in a Motor Vehicle. She was released to a sober party.
