ARRESTS
9/10/2023-A 32 year old male party was arrested by Rangely PD and transported to Moffat County Jail on several charges to include: 2nd degree assault, menacing, domestic violence, third degree assault, child abuse and obstruction of a peace officer
CALL SUMMARIES
9/3/2023 @ 4:15 pm. Several college age students were were seen jumping off the bridge on County Road 23A into the river. Upon the deputies’ arrival, nobody was actively jumping off the bridge, however they were still educated on the dangers of jumping from bridges into murky waters.
9/3/2023 @ 8:16 pm. Three hunters in the area of Forest Service Road 290 got lost and were not equipped to stay the night in the wilderness. Approximately an hour later they called back and had found their way to their vehicle.
9/4/2023 @ 8:05 am. Rangely Fire Dept. was paged out for a wildland fire caused by lightning at the 44 mile-marker on Highway 64. The fire was contained as of 9:30 am.
9/5/2023 @ 12:48 pm. A single tree fire was reported near the intersection of County Road 131/County Road 122. BLM Fire was handling the incident and did not need local resources.
9/7/2023 @ 5:28 pm. A verbal disturbance on 5th St. in Meeker led to the female party finding another place to stay for the evening.
9/8/2023 @ 1:21 pm. A traffic complaint near the 19 mile-marker on Highway 13 resulted in a traffic stop by the Sheriff. Two different calls came in to the Communications Center regarding the same vehicle passing on a double yellow line and speeding. The driver was given a warning for speed.
9/8/2023 @ 2:30 pm. A motorcycle accident occured at the 45 mile-marker on Highway 139. The driver was airlifted to St. Marys hospital.
9/9/2023 @ 9:47 pm. A suspicious party was seen walking through a yard on 10th St. in Meeker. An officer contacted the male subject, who may have been a bit intoxicated, and instructed him to go home.
