RANGELY — The Panthers made the long trip to Granby over the spring break weekend to wrestle in the East Grand tournament.
Wrestling tough but not placing were Walker Smuts, Chas Byerly and Micheal Miner. Placing for the Panthers were; Buck Kinnison, Dillon McTague and Patrick Brown all finished fourth. Jake Smith, Gabe Garcia and Justin Yardley all finished as consolation champs, while Colton Coombs wrestled in the championship match and finished second.
The lone champion of the tournament for RMS was Kody Denny and he was also named the “Beast of the Week.” Denny pinned a kid from West Grand who beat him twice earlier in the season.
Once again thanks to the parents, friends and the community of Rangely for supporting Rangely wrestling.
This week the Panthers travel to Grand Junction to compete in the middle school regionals. If they place in the top five they will qualify for the state tournament.
