Scott James Blanke was born in Grand Junction, Colorado, on Oct. 12, 1962, and passed on in Missoula, Montana, on June 17, 2022. As a young child he lived with his family in Gunnison and Center in western Colorado before moving to Meeker in 1965. A four-sport athlete (football, basketball, baseball and track), Scott graduated from Meeker High School and went on to play football at Mesa College in Grand Junction and Western State in Gunnison.
Scott enjoyed a long and successful career with TIC, and retired in 2013. He enjoyed hunting elk in Montana and Colorado, pheasants in South Dakota, and fishing the many rivers in Montana. He loved spending time with his son, attending Broncos games and hunting or fishing as often as they could.
He is survived by his son Tell Blanke, his mother Bee Blanke, his brother Eric (Shannon) Blanke, and his niece and nephews Sarah, Charlie, and Ryan. He was preceded in death by his father Donald Blanke. All are welcome to come and share memories of Scott’s life and legacy at Bee’s home at 790 Third St., Meeker, Colorado, on July 30 at 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Meeker High School Athletic Department, 560 School St., PO Box 159, Meeker CO, 81641

Sad to hear of Scott’s passing, worked with him in several jobs at TIC. Played golf. Scott always treated me well. Put a dead rattlesnake under my desk at work, I jumped several feet.
