MEEKER | This year head coach Amanda Back of the lady Cowboys golf team has six girls getting ready to hit the links.
“I have three girls returning this year: senior Aiyana McCook and juniors Vivian Brown and Averee Woodward,” commented Back.
Back welcomes to the team this year senior Lily Cox and freshmen Adi Knowles and Joelle Soler.
“This year my goal is to develop new golfers, get them excited about playing golf, and to introduce them to a sport they can play for a lifetime,” said Back.
Playing golf in Meeker in March is next to impossible in a normal or dry year, let alone a year with above average snow.
“It is hard for us to get outside and get some good practices in,” said Blunt, “but we are very fortunate that Trina Zagar Brown and Erik Brown allow us to use the simulator and the warehouse.”
The Meeker golf team is in class 3A, in a big league and even bigger region where the regional tournament will be at Buffalo Run on the front range.
The teams in Meeker’s league are Aspen, Coal Ridge, Grand Valley, Gunnison, Moffat County, and Vail Mountain. The region expands to add Machebeuf and three other intermountain teams.
“It will be a very exciting season and we are so grateful for all of those who support the Meeker Cowboys girls golf team,” commented Back.
