MEEKER I Games 6-8 were played this past week for Cowboy softball and just like that the season is half over. After a double header in Cedaredge and a Tuesday game in Eagle the Cowboys are 3-6 overall.
Saturday the games went 4-5 and 2-9 to the Bruins, no stats available.
Tuesday the varsity brought home another victory.
“The girls run ruled Eagle Valley in three innings,” commented head coach Brianna Williams.
The final score was 24-2. Leading the team hitting was Macy Ridgeway and Emma Knez with a two run home run in the second inning.
Hailey Knowles “pitched a great game striking out six of the 14 batters,” said Williams.
The JV also pulled out a win against Eagle. The final score 18-8 with strong pitching by freshman Emma Smith. Sophomore Autumn Hobbs led the offense with three hits, followed by Emma Smith, Aspen Merrifield, Ellie Hossack, Jayda May and Dylan Herndon all with two hits each.
The team now has some time to recover during the long Labor Day weekend, their next game is scheduled for September 12 when Aspen travels to Meeker for a double header.
