MEEKER | Cowboy softball continues to struggle. In the 10 games they have only added one “W” to the win column for a current record 3-18 overall and 3-10 in the league. Last Saturday the class 3A No. 11 Bruins traveled to Meeker for the teams’ third matchup this season. The Cowboys now find themselves 0-3 against the Bruins this year, Saturday’s final score was 18-4.

There are two regular season games left, both to 4A teams. Thursday, Meeker travels to Palisade to take on the 11-9 Bulldogs at 4 p.m., and Friday the No. 10 ranked Rifle Bears come to Meeker for a home rematch, varsity only, game begins at 4 p.m.

The Cowboys are in class 3A District 5 with six other teams, Basalt, Montezuma-Cortez, Cedaredge, Delta, Gunnison and Aspen. Meeker is ranked sixth in the District with Aspen sitting below with a no win record overall or in the league. The district tournament is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 19, location still to be determined.
