Team headed to state tourney in Aurora this weekend
meeker I The regular season for the lady Cowboys softball team wrapped up on Oct. 3 with a final regular season record of 13-9. The Cowboys were then on the road for the Class 3A Region 8 Tournament. Meeker knocked off Sheridan in their opening game with Megan Shelton and Gracie Bradfield both hitting home runs to win handily 21-4.
In the second game of the tournament Meeker took on the Limon Badgers, losing in a close battle. They were tied at the end of the third, 4-4, then scored two more points in the fourth and sixth innings. Limon came up to bat in the bottom of the sixth inning and scored six points, bringing the score up to 10-8, and that is where the score remained. After Meeker’s at bat in the top of the seventh, the final box score was 10-8, and Meeker ended with a 14-10 record. No. 11 ranked Meeker now travels to Aurora for the first round of the state tournament to take on No. 6 ranked Lamar at 12:15 p.m. on Oct. 19.
