RANGELY | From Jan. 23-27, the students at Rangely Junior/Senior High School celebrated Winterfest. The week consisted of fun spirit days, a dance and home basketball games. On Monday, the theme was Pajama Day. Most students and the vast majority of teachers dressed in their best silly, original and comfortable outfits, and some even included slippers. Tuesday’s theme was Camo Day. As many residents of Rangely are proud hunters, this was easy enough and everyone came decked out in their hunting gear. Wednesday’s theme was Movie Star Day. Some came in old Halloween outfits, while others dressed as Adam Sandler. Thursday’s theme was Mathlete vs. Athlete. Many followed the stereotypical nerd character with glasses and goofy shirts, while others wore jerseys and basketball shorts to follow the typical jock attire.
On Thursday, most high school students attended the Winterfest dance. This dance was a Sadie Hawkins dance, so the girls had to get creative in asking the guys. Each couple wore matching T-shirts and danced the night away. Some favorite duos included peanut butter and jelly, and matching song lyrics.
Friday, the Panthers hosted the Hayden Tigers for both boys and girls varsity games. The game theme was “Iconic Duo” and many wore their matching T-shirts from the night before. Each team played their absolute hardest and successfully took the victory in both games. At halftime of the boy’s game, Mr. and Mrs. RHS were crowned. The senior attendants were Kasen LeBleu, Marstan Wagner, Kevin Wren, Mackenzie Manchester, Rylee Allred, and Kyrah Phelps. The winners were chosen by their teachers and the staff. At the end, Kevin Wren and Mackenzie Manchester were crowned Mr. and Miss RHS. This was a great way to wrap up the fantastic, fun filled week.
