MEEKER I Former Meeker teachers, board members, businesses and other volunteers have made the local Save Our Student (S.O.S.) program possible for many years. This year the schools are once again seeking people who want to get involved and make a difference in a young kid’s life.

Banish boredom with books
MEEKER I It is springtime and everyone is looking forward to the end of school. But once school has been out for a few weeks the students have done everything they’ve been wanting to do all school year and start crying “I’m bored!”

School repairs on schedule
MEEKER I The Meeker Board of Education received a positive update on the repairs on the new elementary school, heard positive comments on their winter sports coaches from parents and accepted a $50,000 settlement agreement from Terracon Geotechnical Services at its meeting Tuesday last.
Library fun at elementary school
MEEKER I January was library month at Meeker Elementary School. We set a goal of reading an accumulated 40,000 minutes. When all was tallied we read 140,973 minutes. Preschool through fifth-grade kept track of their minutes. We were very excited to have 10 adults turn in their time as well.
Repairs begin on school
MEEKER I A special meeting was called Monday, Jan. 30 for superintendent Susan Goettel to inform the board that the addendum had been negotiated and a draft budget prepared by Jim West of Vanir (the Meeker School District’s owner’s representative), including the additional cost to the district.
