MEEKER I Eight Meeker High School students and one teacher, Bob Dorsett, are participating in a nine-day field science project studying marine life in Baja California Sur. The Island Ecology Program, organized by Ecology Project International (www.ecologyproject.org), is located at the Sea of Cortez’ Espiritu Santo Island.

Meeker girls sweep past three foes to win tourney
MEEKER I After a loss at home to Olathe, the Meeker girls’ basketball team won three games and the title last weekend in Granby. The Lady Cowboys lost to Olathe on Dec. 15, following the Cowboy Shootout.

Nate Bradfield, a senior at Meeker High School, has been notified by mail that he was nominated for the U.S. Air Force Academy by Colorado Sen. John Salazar.

Members of Meeker Fire and Rescue participated in the Nov. 15 training exercise at Meeker High School. Susan Sammons of Meeker Ambulance participated in a hazardous materials exercise. A radiologic technologist at Pioneers Medical Center, was one of the community volunteers.
