MEEKER I The Middle Elk Fire on the Blanco Ranger District is located some 30 miles north of New Castle, Colo., to the west of the Buford New Castle Road at Hiner Springs.

MEEKER I The Middle Elk Fire on the Blanco Ranger District is located some 30 miles north of New Castle, Colo., to the west of the Buford New Castle Road at Hiner Springs. For safety reasons the area of the fire remains closed at this time.

RBC I The Middle Elk Fire had increased from 100 acres to 212 as of Sept. 24. It is burning in rough terrain in thick mixed conifer and aspen on the west side of the Buford/New Castle Road near Hiner Spring on the Flat Tops.
