RBC I The White River National Forest (WRNF) is hosting a free workshop for small businesses interested in contracting with the Forest Service to provide equipment, supplies and/or food support to wildland firefighting efforts.
Amendment would restore $653 million to fund
RBC I Senators Mark Udall (D-Colo.) and Jon Tester (D-Mont.) have introduced an amendment to the Supplemental Appropriation for Disaster Assistance to ensure that the U.S. Forest Service is adequately prepared to confront what is expected to be another severe wildfire season in the West.

RANGELY I Smoke visible to the south of Rangely this week was the result of a plan by the Northwest Colorado Fire Management Unit to burn approximately 180 piles of pinyon/juniper slash accumulated during a thinning project.

MEEKER I The Middle Elk Fire on the Blanco Ranger District is located some 30 miles north of New Castle, Colo., to the west of the Buford New Castle Road at Hiner Springs.

MEEKER I The Middle Elk Fire on the Blanco Ranger District is located some 30 miles north of New Castle, Colo., to the west of the Buford New Castle Road at Hiner Springs. For safety reasons the area of the fire remains closed at this time.

RBC I The Middle Elk Fire had increased from 100 acres to 212 as of Sept. 24. It is burning in rough terrain in thick mixed conifer and aspen on the west side of the Buford/New Castle Road near Hiner Spring on the Flat Tops.
