Wildfire off Buford-New Castle Road fully contained; five acres burned
Firefighters successfully contained the five acre Clark Creek fire located approximately 14 miles north of Rifle, Colo., off of Forest Service Road 245 in Garfield County this week. Lost Solar Fire on Flat Tops expands to 2,024 acres
RBC I The Lost Solar Fire, burning on the Blanco Ranger District in the Flat Tops Wilderness, has grown in acreage over the past two days due to weather and conditions. The Lost Solar Fire is currently estimated at 2,024 acres.
Blair Fire not growing; fire crews downsizing
RBC I The firefighting efforts on the 1,140-acre Blair Fire, located 20 miles west of Meeker, are scaling down as fire activity wanes. However, a small unmanned aircraft (or drone) being flown by private individuals was spotted near the incident command post.
Two wildfires burning in area
MEEKER I This past weekend’s lightning burst resulted in 34 wildfires in Northwest Colorado, but only two of those blazes are uncontained as of late Tuesday and wildland fire crews and engines are working towards wrapping them up.
Smoke is from Canadian fires
RBC I It has been tough to miss the haze in the air the past 10 days around Northwest Colorado, but the good news, a government officials has reported, the smoke is not from fires in Northwest Colorado, Southern Wyoming or Eastern Utah, but likely Canada.
