MEEKER | Cowboy football opened the season against a tough and historically strong team, the Centauri Falcons.
“We were handled by a good team, began head coach Andy Coryell, “and made a lot of early season mistakes that we couldn’t overcome.”
The Cowboys fell 33-6, eight of the six coming from Clay Crawford.
Coryell commented about the bright spots for the very young team, “some new guys at new positions played well at times and we can work with that.
Meeker’s schedule won’t get any easier from here as they are loaded with many of the top teams in the state.
“The strength of schedule will give us a chance to see how we match up with some of the better teams in the state right out of the gate,” commented Coryell.
Home again this weekend, the Cowboys will host Wiggins this Friday at 6 p.m.

The MHS Cowboys took to their home field last weekend against the Centauri Falcons. It was a tough game for the young Meeker team, who fell 33-6. The Cowboys will be back at Starbuck Stadium this Friday at 6 p.m., hosting Wiggins.
