TRUE STORY …

Local author Lou Dean has an inspirational article coming out this spring in the popular Guideposts Magazine (April/May edition).

According to Dean, the article embraces her journey from Oklahoma to Rangely in the 1970s with an asthmatic son.

“I was advised to ‘take Scott to a high dry climate’ in an attempt to control his chronic asthma. I had an aunt and uncle in Rangely that owned an oilfield drilling business, so I headed west,” Dean said via email.

“God in the Wilderness” (a working title) details Dean’s early years in Rangely with her son Scott, his improved health, and her move to Blue Mountain where she has spent the last 33 years.

A Guideposts photographer visited Dean in December 2021 and, using a drone, photographed Dean hiking in the high desert wilderness. That drone footage will be on the Guideposts website.

Dean’s most recent book, “The Amazing Grace of Dogs,” which she debuted last September at the Meeker Classic, is available locally at Sweetbriar in Rangely or on Amazon.
