The Meeker Cowboys are winding down golf season with three tournaments this week before they head to regionals.
“The boys had a goal to shoot below a 275 as a team,” said head coach Willy Theos, “we were able to make that mark one tournament and are looking to do it again.”
Monday in Craig the Cowboys had a combined score of 271. Wil Schwartz shot an 83, Sam Hightower 92 and Drew Drake 98. The tournament was preparation for regionals and a shoot off for the final spot on the four man team for regionals.
“We will be taking Schwartz, Hightower and Drake to regionals and that leaves one more position for either Spencer Gates, Alex Garcia, Thomas Curry or Montey Franklin,” Theos said.
At the end of the tournament at Yampa Valley, Garcia shot a 97 that put him into the fourth position for regionals. The following day the team traveled to Steamboat where Schwartz shot an 85, Drake 103 and Hightower 111. The team has one more regular season tournament this Friday at Chipeta.
