BLM reopens JQS Road north of Rifle

RBC — The Bureau of Land Management has completed repairs and reopened the JQS Road north of Rifle. BLM closed the road in June because of multiple debris slides and washouts resulting from spring run-off.
The JQS Road is one of two public access routes to the top of the Roan Plateau. It is a very steep and narrow road with tight switchbacks, and it is impassable when wet. Four-wheel drive vehicles are strongly encouraged, and trailers are not recommended.
The alternate route to the top of the Roan Plateau is Cow Creek Road , which is accessed off Rio Blanco County Road 5.
