BLM seeks input on pipelines

RBC I The Bureau of Land Management is seeking public comment on two adjacent 31-mile pipelines proposed in western Garfield and Rio Blanco counties. EnCana Oil & Gas (USA) Inc. is proposing one 24-inch pipeline to transport natural gas liquids and one 12-inch pipeline to transport water and/or condensate. The pipelines would begin near Kimball Mountain northwest of DeBeque, Colo., and terminate near Colorado State Highway 139 about 25 miles south of Rangely, Colo.About 75 percent of the proposed pipeline route would follow an existing pipeline corridor. It would cross private lands and BLM lands administered by the White River and Grand Junction field offices.The pipelines, called the “Gasaway Pipelines,” would increase the company’s capacity for transporting natural gas liquids from the Kimball Mountain area to the north. The company seeks to construct the pipelines in 2012.The BLM is seeking initial public comment as it begins an environmental analysis of the proposal. Comments will be most helpful if provided by Oct. 11, 2011.
