MEEKER | Twelve Cowboys competed during the Region 5 middle school tournament, all trying to wrestle their way to Colorado middle school state tournament. Nearly 200 boys were in Montrose, Colo., competing for seven spots in each weight, with no school class size distinction. Only in high school does school size become a factor. In middle school there is no 2A, 3A, 4A, or 5A, they are all competing for those bids to state. When the brackets wrapped up and dust settled 11 Cowboys were headed to Denver to compete at state, but all 12 had placed and earned team points. Wrestling in the elementary tournament was Snowdon Williams and wrestling in the middle school tournament and going to state are Dillon Hobbs, Trae Kennedy, Connor Blunt, Brendan Clatterbaugh, Elijah LeBlanc, Cade Blunt, Dagon Dade, Judd Harvey, Noah LeBlanc and Tanner Musser. As a team the Cowboys took home gold with 103 points. Competing with teams from Grand Junction, Montrose and Delta, the Cowboys were a force to be reckoned with.
