The Meeker Herald — 100 years ago
• The electric street car line at Grand Junction was formally opened last Saturday when three cars were put into service on the three miles of track now built.
• Mr. Has. Boies and Mrs. Minnie Morgan stole a march on relatives and friends in the vicinity and going to Glenwood Springs got into the matrimonial box and had the lid duly nailed down according to the law and the gospel.
• At the last meeting of the town board the marshal was instructed to notify all property owners to repair defective sidewalks within ten days. This is one of the most serious defects of our little city — this negligence on the part of property owners and the town authorities to keep the streets and walks in good shape.

The Meeker Herald — 50 years ago
• Forrest Nelson, the 17-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. H.R. Nelson, was named the winner of the State FFA Soil and Water Management Award.
• The Meeker swimming pool was set to open June 3. The pool was finished in the summer of 1957.
• Twenty-nine seniors received their diplomas at the 52nd annual Meeker High School commencement. Quigg Newton, president of the University of Colorado, gave the address.
• The second half of the Meeker Chamber of Commerce beauty queen contest will be held at the Rio Theatre tomorrow afternoon.

• There wasn’t much left of Jerry Calhoun’s 1976 Triumph convertible after it became the third victim in the last three years to roll off the cemetery hill into the ditch below.
• Keenan Turner will be building fence this summer.
• Marnell Day, Ed Bivens, Kristy Hughes and Nanette Freeman received the Quigg Newton award as outstanding students.

The Rangely Times — 50 years ago
• Robert Henneberger was employed as the town administrator, succeeding Don Rider.
• Twenty-eight seniors from Rangely High School received their diplomas. Walter Weiss was valedictorian and Barbara Sowards was salutatorian.
• Moon Lake Electric’s new office building in Rangely was approved for construction. The building will be nearly identical to the one in Altamont, Utah.

The Rangely Times — 35 years ago
• Dean Cox, Jeff Mitchem and Fred Thompson were award-winners in the annual Pinewood Derby presented by Cub Scout Pack No. 150 held the annual Pinewood Derby.
• Scribblings you make during a telephone conversation will give you away, psychologists say. If you draw checkerboards and squares, you show emotional stability. If you draw animals and birds, you are affectionate and understanding. Boats indicate energy and a wish for freedom while flowers and trees show loneliness.
• At the Campus Theatre, Redford and Streisand together in “The Way We Were.”

The Rangely Times — 20 years ago
• The Rangely Board of Trustees established the Rangely Development Authority.
• Rick Passmore and Dan Peach came in first place in the 1989 canoe race on the White River.
• Bill and Janet Kenney of Rangely would like to announce the recent marriage of their daughter, Crystal, to Thomas Boulger, son of Bob and Marie Boulger of Meeker.
