RANGELY I A house fire broke out early Monday morning south of Rangely, severely damaging the home and resulting in a female living at the residence being taken to Rangely District Hospital with minor injuries, the Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Office reported.
The Rangely Police Department reportedly received a 911 call at 3:26 a.m. on Monday in reference to a residential fire at 53000 Highway 139, south of Rangely. Three units from the Rangely Fire Department, the Rangely Ambulance Service, Moon Lake Electric and Target Trucking were dispatched in addition to a Rio Blanco County sheriff’s deputy.
According to the RBCSO, the residence is owned by Billy and Terri Williams.
Arriving on the scene, the deputy reported heavy smoke and flames coming from the roof.
A female living at that residence was reportedly transferred to the hospital by ambulance with minor injuries.
Five units continued on at the scene until 10 a.m., the RBCSO reported.
The fire is still under investigation by the Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Office and Rangely Fire Department.
According to Mike Cook of the RBCSO, there was heavy damage to the roof but the home itself was not a total loss.
