HOME OF: Charlie Novak and Joyce Muller

RANGELY | Charles “Charlie” Novak and Joyce Muller of Rangely are this week’s “home of” honorees. Joyce is a Rangely native. Her parents, Darrel and Veda Muller, moved to Rangely in the mid 1950s and assisted in the development of the town of Rangely.Joyce started in healthcare right out of high school, becoming a lifeguard, an EMT, then a registered nurse. In the mid 1990s she went to Oregon and studied to become a chiropractor. She returned to Rangely in 1999 and started Back to Health Chiropractic.Joyce and Charlie met in Oregon at Western States Chiropractic College. Joyce was a student and Charles an instructor. They were married in Rangely July 4, 2004.Charlie remained in Oregon where he was a chiropractor since 1987. He moved to Rangely in 2007 and joined Joyce at her chiropractic practice. Charlie is also licensed by the Colorado Division of Real Estate and is an associate broker realtor in Rangely for Brooks Realty.Charlie has one son, Cory, 25, of Portland, Ore. Joyce’s son Brandon, 30, his wife Kim and their 5-month old daughter Lillian live in Greeley.Charlie said one of their career highlights “was the great fortune of being invited to teach workshops at the Universidade Anhembi Morumbi in Sao Paulo, Brazil. I taught extremity manipulation and Joyce taught scoliosis management. The people were lovely and very accommodating; the experience near the equator on the Atlantic coast near banana and coffee forests was life changing. The contrast between upper-class lifestyle and the depths of poverty was unforgettable.”“I enjoy visiting with people in both chiropractic and real estate practices and hunting when time allows. Joyce is an active gardener, which also includes canning and cooking. This year’s garden and canning centered around making baby food. Joyce also enjoys crafting, making stained glass pieces and jewelry. Grandparenting is soon to take over all of our extra time,” Charlie said.“We both love the people in Rangely. The atmosphere is outstanding for folks of all ages and it’s the easiest place to make friends we’ve ever seen,” Charlie added.
