MEEKER I Cowboy senior Caleb Lange won the annual Moffat County High School Invitational cross country meet on Saturday in Craig, and Meeker freshman Julia Eskelson placed 10th.
The Cowboys will run in Fruita in the Anna Banana Invitational on Saturday.
“It was good to see that some athletes who had missed the last meet due to illness did not lose any speed,” head coach Marty Casey said. “We were able to field a boys’ team, which was led by Caleb Lange, who won the boys’ race.”
Lange won the 5K with a time of 19 minutes and Eskelson completed the course in 23:26. Aaron Cochran finished with a time of 22:18, 30 seconds in front of teammate Sam Lange. Clay Anderson (23:39) and Justin Lawson (30:12) also ran on the boys’ varsity team and Abbi Ibach (33:06) and Katie Harman (34:08) represented the Meeker girls.
“I am proud of the effort by all, and we hope to have everyone back and healthy for our trip to Fruita’s Anna Banana Invitational this Saturday,” Casey said.
The meet will be held Saturday at the Connected Lakes section of the Colorado River Front Trail. The boys race will begin at 11 a.m., followed by the girls.
