RANGELY I Fourteen teams divided into two flights played in the annual DUCO two-man best ball tournament at Cedar Ridges Golf Course on Saturday in Rangely, and local golfers won both flights.
“The weather was great and the course setup was very challenging,” Cedar Ridges’ course manager Chris Hejl said of the 18-hole tournament.
Defending Cedar Ridges’ club champion Clark Edwards and Trevor Anderson were the best golfers on the course, shooting a 6-under par 66 to win the championship flight. Rangely father and son team Mark and Greg Skelton won the second flight with a gross score of 71.
Meeker’s J.C. Watt and Willy Theos finished with the best net score (60) in the championship flight while Glenwood Springs’ Dan Fritz and Jeff Otto had the second best net score (62). Mike Eckenrod and Mike Smith had the second best gross score (71) in the championship flight.
Jim Roy and Dave Sorel of Glenwood Springs had the second best gross score (72) in the second flight. Rangely golfers Steve Hejl and Ross Beede finished with the best net score (59) in the second flight, five shots ahead of Ryan Elam and Bryan Mackay.
