Meeker youth compete in Rifle

MEEKER — Several youth from Meeker took part in the Rifle Elk Club Hoop Shoot in Rifle on Sunday.
To advance to this stage, the winner in each age division made the most free throws out of 25 shots at their school.
The winners in Rifle are as follows:
Age 8-9 girls: Maggie Phelan placed second.
Age 8-9 boys: Logan Hughes placed first.
Age 10-11 girls: Megan Parker placed first and Sara Gerloff second.
Age 10-11 boys: Cash Atwood placed second and Jake Phelan fourth.
Age 12-13 girls: Taylor Neilson placed first.
Age 12-13 boys: Jake Boesch placed second.
The first-place winners will advance to the District Shoot Off in Leadville.
Meeker was quite well represented. A big thank-you to Debbie Cook, who has made this possible for several years. Also to the Rifle Elks Club which allows the Meeker youth to participate in their shoot-off.
