MHS volleyball team wins two more

MEEKER | Two more league wins on their home court and Meeker’s varsity volleyball team remains undefeated (6-0) in Northwest League play, while increasing its overall to 11-2. The lady Cowboys swept the Hotchkiss Bulldogs in three games last Friday on their home court, then did the same thing, at the same place to the Soroco Rams and they will host the 3A Moffat County Bulldogs tonight.
“The Bulldogs came to town with an impressive win over Vail Mountain earlier in the week and we knew we needed to be at our best to win,” Meeker head coach Greg Cravens said.
Meeker dominated the Bulldogs last Friday, winning the first game 25-13, then they only allowed Hotchkiss 12 points, in each of the next two games.
“Julia Dinwiddie had a break out night against the Hotchkiss Bulldogs,” Meeker head coach Greg Cravens said of the sophomore hitter. “She led the team with 11 kills.”
Coach Cravens said Lila Klinglesmith, Avery Watt and Krissie Luce were “very good in serve receive on Friday.”
Saturday the Rams scored a few more points on the Cowboys, than the Bulldogs did the night before but Meeker still won the match in three games; 25-17, 25-19 and 25-15.
“The team had a long day on Saturday, with some girls in the gym as early as 8 a.m., helping with the middle school volleyball games, while the others were downtown helping with the scrub run,” coach Cravens said. “I’m very proud of the girls because we have talked a lot about taking care of business when on the court and that is exactly what they did Saturday. Even without Lila Klinglesmith, who was out of town at a wedding, the team continue to pass well. Our offense is coming around as we had a more balanced attack with Krissie Luce and Caleigh Morlan having 10 kills apiece.”
Meeker will host the Moffat County Bulldogs tonight, then the Hayden Tigers Saturday and coach Cravens would like to ask for volunteers to help the team.
“We are always looking for some help on game day,” coach Cravens said. “If anyone is interested in helping at the scorers table or being a line judge, please contact me or coach Klark Kindler.”
