Murdoch’s: The chickens are here

RBC I From Rhode Island Reds to pullets, the newest, cutest, fluffiest chicks are now in your local Murdoch’s store.
Local residents are welcome to stop by for a visit. Those wanting to learn about these remarkable animals are encouraged to speak with Murdoch’s staff experts about the differences between breeds, starting a new flock and how to care for them. Throughout March and into April, Murdoch’s will have live chicks available for viewing and/or purchasing.
The popularity of raising poultry in both farms and urban backyards is sweeping the nation. Requiring only a few minutes of daily care, chickens are quieter than dogs and produce fresh, delicious eggs. Plus, chickens are a natural source of pest control and garden compost. Murdoch’s carries a variety of books and supplies to help families start their own flock.
“Chick Days are always a fun new beginning for so many people,” said Kitch Walker, Murdoch’s Ranch and Home Supply marketing director. “I love seeing kids — and even adults — in our stores, smiling from ear to ear, and I love knowing that Murdoch’s is helping them have a rewarding, educational experience raising an animal.”
As part of Murdoch’s Ranch and Home Supply Chick Days celebration, children can enter a coloring contest for a chance to win a class pizza party at their school. Any K-6 student is welcome to participate. Pick up and drop off all coloring contest entries to Murdoch’s Ranch and Home Supply at 2355 West Victory Way in Craig by March 31, 2012. Entries will be displayed at Murdoch’s Ranch and Home Supply during the month of March, and the winning entry will be chosen on April 1.
