RBC I The Rangely High School golf team already has two tournaments under its belt and the rest of the athletes from Rio Blanco County will see live action this week, starting today.
The lady Panthers volleyball team will host Hayden tonight, then play at Caprock Academy on Saturday, while Meeker’s volleyball team will compete in a tournament in Palisade on Saturday.
Both cross-country teams will run on Saturday as Meeker will make the trip to Basalt and Rangely will have its run in Grand Junction.
Meeker’s fast-pitch girls’ softball team will play in Cedaredge on Friday then move to Grand Junction on Saturday.
Rangely’s eight-man football team will open the season in Del Norte and Meeker will travel to Rye, with both games scheduled to be played on Saturday.
“We’re excited to get going,” Meeker head football coach Shane Phelan said. “Every year is different.
“(With a) new team and new guys, some are excited to perform, and we have some old guys who we know how they play that we are excited to watch, too,” he said.
