Happy New Year! OK, I may be a couple of weeks late, but I do hope 2009 has gotten off to a good start for you. College classes have started back up and I’m enjoying (?) chemistry. Last semester I took geology and loved it! Now, I’m looking forward to getting my column in much more regularly and you know what that means — I need you to send me news. Please!
Congratulations to the Rangely School District on the passing of its bond. I know they have already received a new bus and two new trucks for the maintenance and Ag. Departments. Construction on the buildings will be beginning soon and I believe there will be a community meeting scheduled soon.
Looking ahead, the Children’s Health Fair will be March 2-3 in Rangely and March 9-10 in Meeker. Details will be released soon, but if you have a child between the ages of birth and 5 (who aren’t already enrolled in school), I encourage you to participate!
Don’t forget to support our home teams! The Rangely High School wrestling team will host an invitational Saturday beginning at 9 a.m., and the boys and girls basketball teams have home games on Jan. 20 beginning at 4 p.m.
Did you know I’m about to become an uncle? My sister Brooke is expecting her baby next month and she had her baby shower last weekend in Grand Junction. In addition to my mom and both grandmas (Barbara Wade and Phyllis Smith), Diane Slaugh and Donna Day also attended.
Birthday wishes to Elijah Lurvey who turned three on Jan. 13. Happy birthday to Kyle Murphy on Jan. 15, happy anniversary to Bill and Nancy Ferguson on Jan 15.
Until next week, don’t let me down; call me at 675-8021 or e-mail blake@theheraldtimes
