Have you ever read the headlines in a newspaper about something horrible that happened and thought how glad you are that it never happens to someone you know?
Well, our little town was hit with a headline-making tragedy with the deaths of Charlie and Lucille Graham, whom many of us knew. The Grahams were good friends of my grandparents and I knew them my entire life. Who they were is so much more than what a few lines in a newspaper article can tell you. When I think of them I think of Charlie’s friendly, always-happy-to-see-you attitude and Lucille’s love of baking, clocks, lottery tickets and, yes, her cigarettes. I know they loved their family and each other, and I know they will be missed!
Rangely also had another shocking event last week with the Cowboy Corral burning to the ground. It was a bit of a Rangely icon and many of the world’s problems were solved while sitting at one of the tables in that restaurant.
My little sister Emma went to Grand Junction last weekend to celebrate Angelina Fortunato’s birthday at the Teddy Bear Factory and came home with “Doodles,” a bright pink bear. Angelina celebrated her second birthday with her sisters, K.K. and Ella, parents Paul and Jessica, lots of family members and Tristan Scott and his baby sister, Addison.
