RANGELY I The Rangely High School Panthers traveled to the Front Range of Colorado only to be handed their first gridiron loss of the season by the current No. 1-rated eight-man team in the state.
Rangely lost 46-6 to the Caliche Buffalos, and they will now prepare for their first league game of the season against the Tigers in Hayden on Friday.
“I’m not sure if the eight-hour trip played a factor, but we definitely came out flat,” head coach Paul Fortunato said of the bus ride to Iliff, Colo. “Caliche was a great team but we still didn’t play like we have the past few weeks.”
The loss gives the Panthers a 4-1 record on the season, with league play starting Friday in Hayden.
“We will do our best to bounce back and get a good start in the league,” coach Fortunato said of the upcoming game.
