RANGELY | The Rangely seventh grade girls’ basketball team traveled to Steamboat for the district tournament. The “B” team faced Meeker first where the teams were very evenly matched. The score stayed within a couple points of each other throughout the entire game. The Panthers came up a bit short with a final score of 18-20. Lexi LeBleu and Allie Coker led the scoring with five points each. During the second game, Rangely went head to head with Craig. This too, was a very evenly matched game but this time the Panthers came up on top with a final score of 21-16. Ashlynn Ducey lead the scoring with eight points.
The A team faced Craig first, where the Panthers were missing two of their key players (one to injury and one to being ill). The Panthers, as always, were aggressive but shots would just not fall. The Panthers suffered their first loss if the season. Top scorers were Miah Wren with six and Angelina Fortunato with five. During the second round the Panthers faced Steamboat where they were able to take the lead right off the first whistle. The Panthers were able to hold on to the lead and won 18-14. Top scorer was Angelina Fortunato with five points. Overall, the Panthers had a great season with an overall record of seven wins, one loss.
