Two teens home following accident

MEEKER I Two of the three Meeker teenagers injured in a two-vehicle accident on County Road 13 (Flag Creek Road) just before midnight on April 8 are now back at home in Meeker, recovering from their injuries. The third is still hospitalized in serious condition.

Rio Blanco County man dies in hiking accident in Trappers Lake area

MEEKER I A 20-year-old Rio Blanco County man died of injuries sustained Sunday while hiking with friends on Himes Peak, 46 miles northeast of Meeker near Trappers Lake, just over the Rio Blanco County line in Garfield County.

Former Meeker man killed in vehicle rollover

CRAIG I On Sunday at approximately 7:29 p.m., Colorado State Patrol troopers were dispatched to a single-vehicle accident on Moffat County Road 7, near Milepost 7. A former Meeker man, Hunter Zellers, 24, died from injuries sustained in the accident, and the driver, from Craig, was transported to The Memorial Hospital in Craig.

Denver man dies in Green River rafting accident

DINOSAUR I The Moffat County Coroner’s office released the name of a 34-year-old man from Denver who perished in a weekend rafting accident on the Green River in Dinosaur National Monument.

Moody was the first Meeker Fire and Rescue responder to a recent accident south of Meeker, and he helped save Mass’s granddaughter, Brittany, and his then-unborn great-granddaughter, Scarlett, second from left, and Brittany’s husband, Andrew Lawrence, left, who were in an accident on April 17, when the family vehicle slid off Highway 13 and the mother and daughter were trapped in the vehicle below the embankment. The plaque, handmade by grandfather Phil Mass, honors all those responsible for helping at the scene and making certain that no one was injured.

RANGELY I A 21-year-old Dinosaur man was killed and three others were injured in a car accident June 17 outside of Rangely.

RBC I A 911 call to the Rio Blanco County Communications Center in Meeker reported an injured horseback rider in a remote area of eastern Rio Blanco County, east of Ripple Creek Pass and south of but between Baldy Mountain and Pyramid Peak.

Fire on hay hauler shuts down Hwy 64

A Reynolds Nationwide semi tractor and trailer out of San Antonio, Texas, caught fire on Melon Hill outside of Rangely Saturday afternoon when hay stacked too close to the semi’s exhaust pipe ignited, spreading to other bales and falling onto the tractor as the driver separated it from the trailer.

RANGELY I A semi-tractor trailer hauling approximately 20 one-ton bales of hay caught fire Saturday afternoon, destroying the tractor and closing Highway 64 west of Rangely for four hours.

Child killed in UTV accident

MEEKER I Seven-year-old Angelo Theos of Meeker was killed in an utility terrain vehicle rollover accident approximately 12 miles northeast of Meeker off County Road 11 on Tuesday evening.

Teenager injured in rollover

MEEKER I A 16-year-old female from Meeker was injured in a rollover accident last Sunday and is recovering at St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Junction.
