Obituary: Boyd Cloward

Boyd Ellis Cloward was born Dec. 15, 1943, to Boyd E. Cloward and Oma Orton Cloward in Salt Lake City.
The Cloward family moved to Rangely when Boyd was about three years old and he had lived here ever since.
He attended Rangely schools, graduating in 1961. He worked various pipeline jobs until he went to work for Rio Blanco County road and bridge in 1969. He worked there as a heavy equipment operator until he retired 38 years later.
Boyd was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. A few of his assignments were serving as the second assistant in the high priest quorum and serving in the Sunday school presidency. Two of Boyd’s passions in the church were going to the temple and spending countless hours in the Family History Center working on his genealogy. One of the last goals he had during his illness was to go to the temple one last time. His high priest quorum made this possible one evening when they made a special trip over to Vernal (Utah) Temple as a group with Boyd. That put such a great smile on his face and the faces of the high priest quorum of the Rangely Second Ward. He will be sorely missed by the quorum and the members of the church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Allan Cloward, a nephew Stephen Hatch and a niece Katy Rubel.
He is survived by his sisters Mary Hatch, Vernal, Mina Pauls, Rangely, Terri Rasmussen (Stanley), Rangely, and a number of nieces and nephews and many great-nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 27, 2010 at 11 a.m. at the Rangely Second Ward LDS chapel. Friends and family may call one hour prior to the services at the chapel. Interment will be in the Rangely Cemetery under the direction of the Blackburn Vernal Mortuary.
